UPSC Civil Services Mains

UPSC doesn't reward what you know. It rewards how you structure what you know.

A technically correct answer with no structure, no value addition, and no discipline on word limit still loses marks. Get feedback on exactly those three things, on your actual handwritten answer.

What UPSC evaluators actually check

Your answer is read against the same things a GS or Optional paper is marked on.

Structure

A clear introduction that frames the question, a body organised by dimension (political, economic, social, and so on where relevant), and a conclusion that's forward-looking rather than repeated.

Most marks lost on otherwise-correct UPSC answers come from structure, not facts.

Value addition

Diagrams, keywords, quotes, committee references, and current examples that show reading beyond the standard material. We check whether your answer has any, and where you could add one.

A flagged, specific gap here is worth more than a general "add more examples" note.

On your actual script

✓

Multidimensional coverage

Whether your answer addresses the question from more than one angle, the way a GS paper expects.

✓

Word-limit discipline

Whether the answer is appropriately concise for the marks on offer, or padded past the point of being read carefully.

What to rewrite first

Three specific changes, not a general note to "improve structure."
